What records should I keep for homeschooling?

I'm not a lawyer. Please verify with your state's official requirements.

I expected a long list of official requirements I didn't know about.

What I found is that most states are actually pretty reasonable.

Usually it comes down to three things: attendance, subjects covered, and some form of learning evidence.

That last part sounds vague, but it's meant to be flexible. Work samples, photos, books you've read, notes from projects: it all qualifies. You're probably already creating most of this without realizing it.

The shift for me was stopping thinking of it as "record keeping" and starting to just capture what we were already doing. Attendance, our weekly rhythm, portfolio pieces: it all lives in grovio now, which means nothing piles up and I'm not reconstructing anything at year's end. If you prefer paper, a simple folder with three sections does the same job.

Whatever system you'll actually maintain is the right one. Simple and consistent beats elaborate and abandoned every time. That way the whole picture comes together at year's end without scrambling.

🌱 grovio tracks all three — attendance, weekly rhythm, and portfolio — in one place, so your records build themselves as you go.
