Introduction

Welcome to grovio. These terms and conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the grovio mobile application, web application, and website (collectively, the “Service”), operated by Skipper Investments LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

By creating an account, subscribing to grovio, or using any part of the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not use the Service.

These Terms are written in plain English on purpose. If anything is unclear, please contact us at hello@grovioapp.com.

Eligibility

grovio is designed for use by adults (18 years of age or older) who are managing their family’s homeschool experience. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 years old. grovio is not directed at children, and children should not create accounts or use the Service directly. All learner information within the app is entered and managed by a parent or guardian.

Your Account

To access certain features of grovio, you must create an account using Sign in with Apple on iOS or Sign in with Google on Android. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Apple ID or Google account and your grovio account. You agree to notify us immediately at hello@grovioapp.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

You may use grovio without an account. In that case, your data is stored locally on your device only and is not backed up to our servers. If you lose or replace your device, locally stored data cannot be recovered.

Free Tier and Subscriptions

grovio offers a free tier that allows limited use of the Service without an account. The free tier includes basic attendance tracking, a limited number of portfolio entries, a limited number of planner series, and full access to the grovio Guide.

To unlock the full Service — including unlimited portfolio entries, unlimited planner series, weekly reflections, attendance reports, year target tracking, portfolio sharing links, and cloud sync across devices — you must create an account and subscribe.

Pricing

grovio currently offers two subscription plans: an annual plan and a monthly plan. Current pricing is displayed in the app at the time of purchase. Prices are in U.S. dollars and may be subject to applicable taxes.

Billing and Renewal

Subscriptions are billed through Apple’s App Store on iOS or Google Play on Android. By subscribing, you agree to the payment terms of the platform you used to subscribe (Apple’s payment terms on iOS, Google Play’s payment terms on Android). Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually) unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period expires. Renewal charges will be applied to your Apple ID account or Google account within 24 hours before the end of the current period.

Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings (on iOS) or Google Play → Subscriptions (on Android). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will continue to have access to the full Service until that period ends. grovio does not offer prorated refunds for unused time within a billing period.

Refunds

Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. To request a refund, visit Apple’s support page at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204084.

Refund requests for Google Play purchases are handled by Google. To request a refund, visit Google Play’s refund policy at https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479637.

grovio does not process refunds for App Store or Google Play transactions.

Price Changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices at any time. If we change the price of your subscription, we will notify you in advance. Existing subscribers will not be affected by a price change until their next renewal date, at which point the new price will apply. You may cancel before the new price takes effect.

How You May Use grovio

grovio grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms. This license does not grant you any ownership of or rights to grovio’s software, design, content, or intellectual property.

You agree not to:

Violation of any of these restrictions may result in immediate termination of your account.

Your Content

grovio allows you to create and store content including learner information, attendance records, planner data, portfolio entries (including photos and descriptions), and weekly reflections (“Your Content”).

You retain ownership of Your Content. By using the Service, you grant grovio a limited, non-exclusive license to store, display, and process Your Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This license exists only for as long as your account is active and Your Content remains on our servers.

grovio does not claim ownership of Your Content. We will not use Your Content for marketing, advertising, or any purpose beyond operating the Service — unless you explicitly choose to share it (see Portfolio Sharing below).

You are solely responsible for the content you enter into grovio. You represent that you have the right to any photos, text, or other materials you upload, and that Your Content does not violate any third party’s rights.

Portfolio Sharing

grovio allows you to create shareable links to portfolio entries. When you generate a sharing link, anyone who has that link can view the shared portfolio content. You control who you share links with, and you can deactivate any sharing link at any time within the app.

grovio also offers a feature to generate branded share cards from portfolio entries for posting to social media. When you use this feature, the generated image may include your learner’s first name, subject, date, your written description, and grovio branding (the grovio wordmark and tagline). By using this feature, you agree that:

AI-Powered Features

grovio offers optional AI-powered features, including weekly learning summaries and monthly narrative reviews. When you choose to use these features, certain data from your portfolio entries (titles and descriptions) is sent to Anthropic, PBC (the provider of the Claude AI model) to generate the summary.

AI-generated content is provided for your convenience and personal use. grovio does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of any AI-generated content. You should review all AI-generated summaries before sharing or relying on them.

AI features are entirely opt-in. They only run when you actively choose to use them. If you do not use these features, no data is sent to Anthropic.

The grovio Guide

The grovio Guide is a collection of educational articles written for homeschool parents. All Guide content is provided free of charge and is available to all users, with or without an account.

The grovio Guide is for informational purposes only. It does not constitute legal, educational, or professional advice. grovio does not provide state-specific legal guidance on homeschooling requirements. For legal questions about homeschooling in your state, consult your state’s Department of Education or a qualified professional.

You may share links to Guide articles freely. You may not copy, republish, or redistribute the text of Guide articles without written permission from grovio.

Intellectual Property

The Service — including its software, design, text, graphics, logos, icons, and all other content created by grovio — is the property of Skipper Investments LLC and is protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

The grovio name, logo, tagline (“Grow Simply. Homeschool Confidently.”), and all related branding are trademarks of Skipper Investments LLC. You may not use these marks without our prior written consent, except as they appear on share cards generated through the app’s sharing features.

Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

grovio does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times. We do not warrant that any data stored in the Service will be permanently retained — you are responsible for maintaining your own backups of critical records.

grovio is a record-keeping and organizational tool. It is not a substitute for legal compliance. You are solely responsible for understanding and meeting your state’s homeschooling requirements. grovio does not guarantee that using the Service will satisfy any legal or regulatory obligation.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SKIPPER INVESTMENTS LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF RECORDS, OR FAILURE TO MEET COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID TO GROVIO IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Skipper Investments LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party’s rights.

Termination

You may stop using grovio at any time. You may cancel your subscription through your Apple ID account settings (on iOS) or Google Play → Subscriptions (on Android). You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing hello@grovioapp.com.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Any data associated with your account may be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you through an in-app notice or email.

Your continued use of grovio after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you should stop using the Service and cancel your subscription.

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Skipper Investments LLC regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
