Homeschool end-of-year reporting: what do I need?

End-of-year reporting can feel much bigger than it is. The trick is to learn what your state or evaluator actually expects before the end of the year arrives—then gather only those things as you go.

First, confirm what you actually need to submit

There is no universal homeschool year-end report. Your state, homeschool pathway, evaluator, or association sets the rule. It may ask for nothing at year's end, or it may require a report, assessment, evaluation, or portfolio review. A calm end-of-year reporting checklist

Once you know your requirement, gather only the pieces it calls for. A useful checklist might include:

• your attendance record, including totals or hours if required;
• a brief list of subjects, books, curriculum, or projects from the year;
• selected work samples, photos, or notes from a homeschool portfolio;
• any required assessment, evaluator report, or form; and
• copies of what you submit and any confirmation you receive.
