Can I homeschool if I'm not a teacher?

Yes.

And I say that as someone who had moments where I genuinely questioned it.

There was a day early on when my child asked me something I didn't remember at all. I stared at it for a second and thought, "I'm supposed to be teaching this?"

So I said, "I don't know. Let's figure it out."

We looked it up together. It wasn't polished or perfect, but something shifted in that moment.

I realized I didn't need to have all the answers. I just needed to be willing to find them.

Homeschooling isn't about replicating a classroom. It's about being responsive. You can slow down when something isn't clicking. You can try a different approach. You can spend extra time where it matters.

Most states don't require teaching credentials to homeschool your own child. And for the areas that feel outside your comfort zone, there are resources, tutors, and co-ops that can help.

You don't have to be the expert.

You just have to stay curious alongside your child.
